RE: Current opinions on "outerbanks campgrounds"

H&E. Watch those kids. One of them must have ran a bike into my RV and took the paint off the side. We were close to the playground and had 50 or more people walking through our site to get to the playground. If we go back to CH we will NOT get betting a site near a pond or the playground. Too many geese and wild kids :) Other then that it was great. Too windy to put out the awning and not worry about it but there were no bugs either! Enjoy your stay and be careful of the rip current down there now.

RE: Just pulled into Camp Hatteras!

CrabbyPatty, We are on the ocean side close to the enterance. Our site backs up to a fishing pond and the playground. It works out great for our two young kids! Yesterday evening I took my son, my friend and one of his sons to the Nags Head Fishing Pier. We saw a 3 or 4' shark caught right next to us!! I caught a flouder, my friends son caught many a fish including a trout, spadefish, spot etc. My son caught a spot and two 18 year old girls lol! (he is 8 years old) BTW they are calling for better weather come Sunday- Monday.
H&E We have seen that play serveral times and it is great. I'm not a "play" type person but I really enjoyed the Lost Colony. If the rain stops today maybe I'll walk down your way and say hi!

RE: Just pulled into Camp Hatteras!

Hey all! Stuck in the RV the last few days. Had a staff infection before we came down and I had an allergic reaction to it. They had to give me some steroids in the bum lol. It has been VERY windy here and torrential downpours at times. It is too dang windy to put out the awning. The rip currents are very dangerous with the storm out at sea but it is making for some nice waves! My kids are having a blast and are in one of the three pools. The camp is 1/2 full at best right now. Our whole trip there has been two empty spots next to us. I'm going fishing on Avon pier this evening. My father and his fiance showed up 2 days ago and we were a little cramped with 6 people in the RV but it wss fun.

RE: Just pulled into Camp Hatteras!

Hello all! Had a good day today. My family and I went to the NC Aquarium and spent most of the day! Last night we went to the Mad Crabber located in near Avon and had the best Alaskan Snow Crab legs I've ever had! My wife really liked her Mahi-Mahi aka Dolphin. The kids had super large portions of both hot dogs and chicken tenders lol. This is our first "RV" trip to the OBX. But we have come dozens of times before and rented a house. If you are concerned about the cost ....well it is very cheap for what you get. To rent a decent place around here for a week you are looking for $2000 or so. Crabbypatty, you should have a clear line of sight for the TV dish from any site that I've seen here. We opted not for the cable TV but I hooked up the line anyways. Security came and gave my wife a "friendly reminder" to pay for it. I went back and paid for 6 nights of cable at $3 a pop. If you are looking for a real nice place to eat I recommend Bass Night LoneCedar. I believe it is owned by the govenor of NC and has EXCELLENT food. It is located on HWY 64 W going towards Pirates Cove on the left, before the bridge. I'm sure we will be going there at least one time on this trip.

RE: Caution: Myrtle Beach / Lakewood

I agree with the golf cart post up near the top. I could hear "beeping" in my sleep for weeks. Teenagers blasting rap music and acting like animals. I will NEVER go back to Lakewood.

RE: Jayco 23B

I'd say you would be fine with the right hitch setup. You won't reget the Jayco, they make great units. I'm on my 3rd Jayco.

RE: Lakewood campground in Myrtle Beach

We have only stayed at Lakewood one time on our only trip to MB. I won't go back. Too many darn golf carts and on top of that 1/2 of them had music systems thumping rap music. I don't want to hear that******;)

RE: Towing without W/D bars

I towed a 30' Jayco with a 2500 Dodge diesel. Programmer/injectors,upgraded turbo the whole nine yards. Not once did I use a WD hitch or sway control. It pulled straight and actually leveled the truck out when I hooked up. With that being said now I have a 2006 GMC Sierra VortecMax (LQ9) package. Tow package, 6.0L, adjustable suspension etc.. Yesterday I bought a WD hitch to tow my new Jayco 28BHS. I was all over the place with it on the first trip. Hopefully this cures the problem.

RE: Don't get mad, get even!

I hate that. Now we bring out 110# German Shep. and our 10 # Min Pin. They think about it until the GSD starts to growl :)

RE: running speaker wire

This is an easy one :) Run the wires UNDER your RV and then you can hook your outdoor speakers when you get the the site.

RE: 2004 Jayco 19H price

I just sold a 19H 2004 model for $9,000. It was in great shape and I'd buy another if I was in the hybrid market. We just bought a new Jayco 28BHS for $14,500 ;)

RE: Are you camping Memorial Day Weekend and where?

Yes! My family (and 2 dogs) are going to Emporia, VA to the Jellystone. We are meeting my in-laws down there and have been doing so since my wife and I got married. She grew up going to that campground. The campground was just sold to new owners and from the sounds of things this may be our LAST trip there. If anyone else is going there drop by! We will have the bright white (still new Jayco 28BHS) pulled by a blue GMC VortecMax.

RE: Unhappy campers

Yep your friends got the shaft. I'm on my 3rd Jayco. The 1st two I bought used. The new one (maiden voyage this weekend) I bought from Dixie RV in Newport News, VA. Even though I knew what I was doing they insisted they show me everything in the new RV. They were very kind and wanted to make sure I was happy. My truck sat a bit lower with the 28BHS then it did with the 19H so they even offered to flip the ball on my hitch. I'd buy from them again.

RE: 2008 Jayco 32BHDS - JAYFLIGHT G2

I tow the Jayco 28bhs with a 2006 GMC Vortec MAX aka the 6.0L HO motor. It is all I want to be honest ;) I wouldn't try it with the 4.7 Yota.

my new Jayco 28BHS

Well we sold our 19' Jayco hybrid and the wife couldn't go w/o another RV. We ended up with this....
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/vamangano/Toys/jayco1.jpg width=640
I'll be towing it with a 2006 GMC Sierra VortecMax (LQ9).

It tows fine but I think I'm going to invest in some sway control of some type. You can never be too careful! See ya'll on the road!
